[Documentation of interventions and site-specific projects: (manipulated) Photography,
Video, 3D-Object, intervention]
Hosted by Interflugs/UdK Berlin, held by Catherine Ludwig, Margarita McGrath, Wolf Leeb with participation of US Architecture,
Edinburgh MFA Art/Space/Nature, UdK Berlin students
Sites: Alexanderplatz, Jewish Museum, Reichsparteitag, Hauptbahnof, Holocaust Memorial
We would like to explore the relationship of the movement, feeling and behavoir of "crowds"
with the structures and shapes of different public spaces in Berlin.
Content:
1. Studying the relationship of (public) space and population -> „re-see“ public space
2. Developing an unique understanding of Berlin
3. Improving the technical skills of photography
4. Lingering at a public place longer than usual in order to observe the movement of the crowd,
engaging a diverse set of views
Group "Alexanderplatz": „Berlin Alexanderplatz“
The public movement of the wide spaced Alexanderplatz in Berlin is divided in preferred
and mostly efficient routes of the crowd, so that some spaces of the square are almost never in use.
The given gridline system of the square will be utilized to create optic
dissolutions, which adjust the surrounding space. The dissolutions will be used to figure
out if and how the crowd is attracted by them. Furthermore the various perspectives of the
new elements in the square will be observed and analysed."
